I think you've hit the nail on the head there; yes, the hardest thing is getting booked for subsequent events. It can be very difficult when the expected names continue to dominate the events. There's also the "sex appeal" factor. As one promoter once said to me, the day after I played REAL BAD, "I don't care how good you are. You're too old, too fat, and too ugly for me to put you on a poster and expect to sell tickets." Now, whether those things are really true about me personally, there's no disputing that sex appeal sells party tickets.

What makes a dj a circuit dj? One of the things would have to be repetition. Not of the music, but of returning to events. Which is what makes it hard to break into becoming a circuit dj, it's already filled with the same djs over and over again. Kind of fine line there between being a dj who played a circuit event and being a circuit dj. I've been out of the scene for a long time, but wish events would mix it up more with djs. Although I see the draw in So&So always spinning a certain. It becomes tradition. Regardless, you're having a good time and the one time I was lucky to hear you live I had a good time so win/win!
